Les, my greatest fear...and, unfortunately, the most obvious target for another shock on the US system....would be a major attack on a shopping mall, pre-Christmas..

1- The X-mas shopping season is a huge one for U.S. retailers...damage done to that could severely hurt U.S. economy

2- Security at shopping mall is a joke. Thousands of people inside a mall...it is so easy to go in and do something stupid. One major attack at one mall would SEVERELY cripple mall traffic going into X-mas..

Our nation's malls better get their act together, and soon....Especially, they need to get rid of those events where a thousand people sit in chairs (as I saw yesterday) and watch some presentation (inside the mall)...there is little/no security at those events, and something very bad could happen...

More than any other post I've written, I hope I am wrong here.

the overreactions will probably number the actual terrorist acts by hundreds to 1. when there was a rapist scare around here two years ago, neighbors would be calling the police almost nightly. i got stopped two times on occasions when i walked the dog after dark. never mind the rapist was hispanic, 5 foot 5, and wore cargo pants, and I'm 9 inches taller and don't shop at Old Navy.
