And about the Koran, my instincts and the part that hurts right now, is egging me to agree with you, but the better part wins, for now.

I first read the translated version a decade ago. I read a condenssed version again a couple of weeks ago. Both times I came away with a lot of admiration. It has its shades of black and white, but overall I found that the book itself isn't bad, if understood in context of the times and interpreted according to the existing state of humanity. It is a wonderful piece of work. I think Mohammed was a genius of his time to have come up with something like that. Of course the Moslems think it fell off from the heavens...and that belief, IMO is.......strange ? If only they could treat it as a book of rules, a GOOD book of rules and NOT as a directive from God, the world woud be a great place to live in.

A lot of it was written to motivate, no wait, motivate is a wrong word, to herd his people towards his beliefs. And he used a liberal dose of analogies, metaphors, symbolism. Unfortunately, he discounted the fact that the people who followed him were cattle. They have followed his teaching verbatim thru centuries, without putting his symbolism and metaphors in context of the real world. They have been unable to develop any other philosophy with which the conservative Islam could have competed and improved upon itself. So whereas all religions have evolved, Islam has remained in the dark ages...and will remain, since the age old Islam prohibits independent thinking. That was a necessity of the the, for religion was mixed with politics and its inappropriate to ask questions when you are in the army. Individual rights take second place in times of war and emergency.

The world is a better place now....and so individual rights need to be more relaxed...and this above all, is what the interpreters of keepers of Islam seem to forget.

Did you read my link to a report which says that even their kids are encouraged to be violent, so they can win 72 virgins in heaven ? LOL. You suppose those little kiddos know what the word virgin even means ?
