Here is another OBL story. Female point of view.. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Finally after all these years I have an insight into ' how in hell the Jonesville massacres could have come about". That item presented a very disturbing portrait of fanciful dislocation from reality and reason. Scary stuff. C

I dunno about the Stockholm Syndrome, but maybe I underestimate how some folks feel. I mean, I feel there is a little more visible risk added to our lives, but I was well aware of this risk at the origination of OPEC. I certainly felt more 'hostage' to the Cold War MAD philosophies and hundreds of millions of Chinese or Russian soldiers, than I feel towards, perhaps 100,000 extremists teetering on the edge of being annihilated by most of the civilized world. I disagree with that part, but with the psychologic atavist theory, I concur, sadly and grudgingly. I merely try to put myself (in my imagination)on the airplane with the frightened children passengers of those hijacked planes to recognize that this man has not an ounce of humanity in him. When I hear that a few women are making comments to the contrary, I can only conclude that they have led very sheltered lives full of fantasy.

Interesting, and predictable article. I have been wondering when it someone would write this article. Part of bin Laden's appeal, I think, is that he doesn't seem quite real. He has never claimed responsibility for the US attacks, or been filmed with Western heads of state. He appears only in his own broadcasts from distant Afghanistan, looking like a quasi-mythological cross between a villain from a James Bond film and a Rudolph Valentino sheikh. I'm surprised Jenny McCartney didn't also equate OBL looks to Jesus Christ. I remember thinking that the first time I saw him at the microphone in his flowing, gauzy, white robe that was draped around his grey, bearded face. It occurred to me that was just the image he hoped to portray as he stood before the innocent masses delivering his teachings. When I saw that pictures, days after the bombing, I said to myself, this man is not only dangerous, this man is very clever. Did I admire his cleverness? No! It scared the heck out of me because I knew that the people he was speaking to would see it also. They would see a living, breathing prophet that was actually speaking to them. I can only imagine how powerful that experience could be. Another thing I know is that there are no fantasies here. For three nights after Sept. 11, I experienced the same dream. In my dream I walked over to my kitchen sink and opened the cabinet doors. Out popped a dog sized rat with the face of OBL. This dream totally destroyed any "craven streak" for adoration of the fascist OBL that ever may have subconsciously existed in this woman's psyche. What has never been subconscious about my opinion of OBL is that I would as soon saw off his privates with a very dull knife and stuff them in his mouth. Then I would cut off that grey beard and set it on fire under his nose so that the smoke would suffocate him. Do you think that he would suffocate before he bled to death? Call it "hate" or what ever you wish. As you can see, women can also be vicious. It is he that would need protecting from me. M
