I don't know where you get you information on memes, but it is wrong. Evolution is a process engaged in the manipulation of genes for physical expressions. Memetics is the study of the passing of information and culture models using elements Richard Dawkins called 'memes'. There are people who belive that religion meets the criteria of meme-ness. Most ideas meet these criteria because they are actively in competition with one another. Anyone can be infected by a meme. It knows no race or continent. Hell, it can be spread by wires and fibers or by person to person, by mail, email, or video, or simple text windows, like those ideas of the Internet. You are being infected by my memes and your memes can infect me. My own memes have their defenses and unless you memes are stronger, my memes will prevail and be promulgated.
