I wonder what foreigners think about these flashes of brilliance from our preeminent brokerage house. If I were them, I would be frantically trying to figure out how to bail out of the dollar.

...or subcontract the printing job to GS,JPM and such... otoh, is this not what they've been doing for quite some time with asset-backed widgets, CDOs etc.

I already see Abie Cohen's televised address to Boy Scouts of USA asking them to do their best in the weekend paper-collecting drive - "we need your help to keep the presses going" -.

Or, print more money, give it to me and I'll use it to buy a CDMA network from the USA for New Zealand.

Or, print more money, lend it to Motorola or Lucent, who will provide me a vendor-financed CDMA network. That would keep exports up, the economy rolling and USA companies profitable. I'd be happy with it too.

I suppose that's what they'll do. QUALCOMM has a good balance sheet and could borrow a huge amount of Uncle Al's freshly printed $ if the interest rate is low enough. They could go shopping for beaten down techstocks which would synergize with their CDMA aspirations.
