We are all saying the same thing, in different words, but essentially identical to the dictionary definition:
"the philosophical doctrine that all criteria of judgment are relative to the individuals and situations involved
"

Since you seem sure you have an absolute belief, and you seem to understand the requirements of such a position using the criteria in the last post, how does one actually manage to find (and maintain) this absolute reference point in a dynamic world, without becoming a picture hung by eye?

This is a seriously difficult matter since there is no standard that can show itself to have been timelessly and consistently applied. It is very easy to be wrong and very hard to be right with this claim. Ever tried to hang a picture by eye in room and then go back to check your measurements? I've never had that work for me.

So, Tim, where is this vantage point from which you perch that allows you to see things in a way that is inconsistent with the physical universe's operation?

I'm only confused because I am being given different definitions by different people.

It has been painful to watch. I quit following the discussion after about the third different definition.

By that standard I am a believer in moral absolutes.
LOL, we should have taken a poll instead of running on and on with multiple definitions. I'd bet that no one would have considered you a relativist.
