Hi Mike,

No. I don't think I misread you. I am just saying that there are many many kinds and forms of terrorism in this world. If you doubt what I say, read this letter and tell me that it doesn't remind you of other things that you've read or heard over the past month.

howdyneighbor.com

This guy shot and killed 14 women, and injured another 9 women and 4 men in the space of a few minutes. The only thing that stopped his rampage of killing was running out of ammo and more victims.

There is a part of what we refer to as "humanity" that is a scary thing. Unfortunately that is a truth, and yes, the truth of that statement makes me "pissed" to think about too.

And yes, all we can do is go about our lives and do the things we wish to do. But we can never forget that there are people in our world who wish to do us harm. Perhaps that's just an idea that is easier for a woman to accept than for a man as women must live their lives surrounded by the unidentified misogynist-terrorists who skulk around within the cover of half the human race. That's not paranoid thinking... just plain old commonsense. Don't kid yourself,... every woman never forgets this whenever she has to walk down a dark street alone at night, or enter an empty house in the evening after work. Even I reluctantly think about it every time I take my canoe out to some secluded lake to go paddling. And yes... that fact pisses me off greatly... It would be nice to wake up some morning and think, "Gee, this is nice! I never ever have to be afraid again. I can go where I like...go hiking or canoeing wherever and whenever I like!"

Problem is, that's never ever going to happen. Women have just had to accept that fact and have learned how to live around it... by travelling in groups, walking the streets accompanied by large dogs, and avoiding encounters with men when they are travelling through secluded areas -- and believe me when I say that it is most annoying to have to operate this way. I push things to the limit constantly..much to the consternation of my spouse and many of my family and friends, but I CANNOT allow the way I wish to live to be changed in ANY way by the threat that is posed by encounters with those few dangerous men who wish to harm women.

But, yeah. I understand feeling "pissed". In fact, I think that my first reaction when all of this latest terrorism stuff happened was to think..."Oh great, this just added yet ANOTHER pain-in-the-ass danger to life."

Sorry, but that's just the way I see it from here.

It looks like globally there is this general mischief sponsored and encouraged by these fundamentalists. Here is a Philippine case of abducted resort tourists that looks to be linked to Yemen. (Another vacation hell for Americans I suspect.)
