The original documents are missing. There are records that show that the same stories were carried around for a while and mention landmarks. That is good. But I could write a story about leprechauns in the Bay Area. I could mention Pier 39, the pirate man, Alcatraz, the traffic on 880 and none of this would authenticate the leprechaun part of the story. There is no evidence of a world wide flood, or that humans were made from clay, or that a woman was from a man's rib. These are testaments of faith.

Mosses didn't have any corroboration of his story and we can't even decide which mountain he went up when he went to meet God and get his 10 commandments. AND, where are these 10 commandments? Why did God make them out of clay when he could have chosen any material he wanted to. Carved diamond sheets would have been pretty remarkable. How could the Jews have lost those? And the Ark of the Covenant? I still have the original copy of my birth certificate for Pete's sake.

Greg, the difference between the revelation of the book of Mormon (which is actually a pretty interesting read if your into that kind of stuff), and the Bible, is that of a few thousand years in the best case, and a few hundreds of years in the worst case. I glad you find it useful in your life, but it is not a universal vantage point.
