>> In France, the situation gets further complicated by the US' snubbing of the French. Indeed, the so-called French Doctors expected to get at least the humanitarian part of the Afghan campaign... But the US seems to want it all: you're dropping both "smart bombs" AND food supplies! Hence the French media branding the whole US operation as a cynical, clumsy showoff of American.... unilateralism. I guess we've come full circle --and back to the familiar US-EU rift of yore. <<

This isn't analysis...this is finding a way to blame us, no matter what we do.
The French sit on the fence and say they won't do anything. Once the action starts, they say we're snubbing them. If we go in and do the dirty work against the Taliban, they want to come in after us and be the saviors of the Afghan people. If they can't be the haloed heroes while our sons and citizens die, they don't want to play.

Analysis, my ass.
