When will China Telecom get its license -- after it is clear that the UNICOM CDMA network works well and can easily upgrade to 1X. Spring maybe or perhaps much earlier if China is hot to trot with the export market -- it is really about building a domestic market base huge enough to allow China to do R&D and build world class handsets and perhaps networks.

NOK will be totally screwed before this is all over - and it was totally unnecessary for NOK to be destryed -- it was their stupid choice.

Ben G. 1X/1XEV is state or the art by time China Telecom gets its license. You are, or course, correct is speculating that the proud Chinese will not build out an inferior network network. What they must have is lots and lots of voice circuits in their densely populated cities

My opinion is that they are a candidate for QCOM's recently announced diversity antenna voice capacity doubling feature.
