I'm tempted to ask whether you use stops, of whether you have a time frame for your shorts, and exit the trades if they don't go as expected.

Yes, I do use stops. My time frame has a lot to do with what I perceive to be cycle highs and lows. Sometimes I average up, sometimes I don't. I understand allocation.
Some trades I let go longer than others and carry a looser stop. I am not short many, just a couple that I believe have run too far too fast.
I am thinking 460 may be a top for the semi's short term.
Much has to do with earnings this week.
