I'm not naive. I understand that the word "friend" requires context. The context is whether being a "friend" to the US advances Palestinian interests. Arafat has calculated that it does, and he has backed up this calculation with his life. He stands to lose it if he is wrong. Look at the facts: Arafat has had demonstrations in favor of OBL quashed and Palestinians participating in them killed. That's a fairly substantial show of support. I don't believe a word from the DEBKA site.
