Actually, I did, plus 9495, the one that elicited your hearty approval with 9502, to which Dale reacted with dismay, correctly, I believe. Then you followed with 9528, which is reasonable and sensible IMO, but is contradictory to 9502. I know, "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds," but REALLY! <<"We were told not to sell tickets to Muslim passengers mainly for routes going to North America. European routes were later added," said one travel agent in Beijing.>>--9495 <<I guess there is a place in the world if not for racial profiling, then for national profiling (if you deign to call these various dictatorships and satraps "nations"). In essence, though, it IS the answer. If "Islamic states" (by that I mean the 20 or so nations, many ending in "stan") cannot control their own mad dogs, then the rest of the world will have to shun them. Sorry, no visas, no plane tickets, no access to universities, ski resorts in Europe (well, okay, ski resorts, but you have to come by private jet, your own, or ferry & train). Islamic states and islamic followers wish to live in the 12th century, fine. Let them travel by camel caravan.>>--9502 <<As for legal aliens, no matter which country they are from, on what basis do you think you should violate the terms of their status? Because we're frightened? I don't think so. If investigations turn up associations and ties with terrorist networks then the legal alien's status should be revised and the alien deported, rapidamente. Most of us at one point or another were legal aliens in this country; in my case it goes back 7 generations, in my wife's case, zero generations (she's naturalized); we need to take the risk of having legal aliens here, much as we take the risk of having citizens among us (Tim McVeigh comes to mind, as does David Koresh, and David Duke, and Ruby Ridge).>>--9528 At the risk of being accused of arguing in style of avoid-the-issue-by-focusing-on nits (Lindberg's nationality) style which you seem to espouse, the detainment of Italian Americans and German Americans during World War II was not a universal roundup on the basis of nationality as it was for Japanese Americans. As for an avowed Nazi sympathizer, "whatever that means," Lindberg, along with many other Americans, openly admired pre-Pearl Harbor Germany. That's why there was no declaration of war until Pearl Harbor. There wasn't the political support. In fact, there are a number of conspiracy theorists that believe that Roosevelt withheld prior knowledge of the attack in order to tip public opinion in favor of entering the war. I'm sure you can find the links--or just watch the History Channel. Cheers, Jim
