What in particular was objectionable?

It wasn't so much objectionable as simply not comforting. First of all, it was very militaristic and I'm just not into that. Yes, the building where the people died was the Pentagon, a military landmark, but most of the dead were civilians. Had I lost someone, I would have felt better with a more patriotic but less military theme.

The other unsatisfactory part was the emphasis on Christianity. The event was supposed to be non-denominational but the only break from Christianity was a Muslim chaplain reading a verse from the Quran. He didn't make a speech, just read a verse. And in reading that verse, he conspicuously said "God" rather than "Allah."

I would have felt better with more of an inspirational message about patriotism and our great country and less Christ and caisson. I would not have left that service feeling that my loved one's life was lost uselessly.
