<Pete, someone who finds no fault with "quantispeed" would be a hypocrite to criticize Intel's reporting of Pro Forma numbers.>

Athlon XP 1800+ beats the crap out of 2.0GHz P4. Just check the www.anandtech.com review. Shall we call 2.0GHz P4 the "phonyspeed" "gasburst" architecture?

Dear Tench:

I do wish that consumers would be able to understand clock == RPM, IPC == torque and Performance = clock * IPC == RPM * torque = HP. It would lead to a lot less confusion. However, I do think that high clock for Intel is even more misleading than Quantispeed. Basing Quantispeed on Tbird should be as allowable as Intel's own iCOMP rating. Forgot about that didn't you!
