I'd rather like to hear a peep or two from other countries there about the Northern Alliance, rather than just support for the Taliban.

I've seen none, likewise. The general position from even the 'moderate' Islamic voices appears to be "We regret the loss of lives in the attack on the WTC, but urge the US not to bomb Afghanistan".
IOW, "Sorry, but don't dare strike back". Never mind how many the Taliban have killed, terrorised, dispossessed...

The supporters of Islam, IMO, are doing their level best to provoke and deride even the most moderate of Westerners into wanting to eradicate the entire religion and the hypocritical, murderous vermin it so richly spawns. At least, that's becoming my reaction.

When I hear oily-mouthed apologists say, now, "A war on Afghnaistan is a war against Islam" - well, what alternatives have *you* put forward? And, BTW, how do you make this connection? Has the US attacked every Islamic country? - or even those 'merely' calling for the overthrow of the US? Have Muslim states been forced into treaty, or made to give over their land as a base to attack a regime avowedly opposed to all the US stands for - freedom, self-determination, the liberty of the individual? Have Muslims in the US been incarcerated, tortured, forced to abjure their religion?
This is such a false connection, and no one seems willing to point it out...

I'm actually starting to opine with the extremists: everyone living in the West should be forced to swear an oath, upon whatever they count most dear, to support, uphold and obey above all the laws and liberties and freedoms of the nation where they live - or go to whichever godforsaken pit of fundamentalism is willing to accept them.
