I have to pretty much agree with John on stock buy backs.

I think Cisco is stupid to buy back it's own stock.

Hard, cold cash is very valuable, especially in this environment.

I see absolutely no need for Cisco to up it's stock price thru buy backs..... unless they want to use it for options.

I would like to see Cisco buying up some of the "deck chairs" in this environment. Wise buying here will reap huge dividends for us all.

Eric

Hi Mindmeld,

Well, one way to look at it is that Cisco has an equity investments element. I advocate that a company should do the best thing possible with its cash.

If I did think that CSCO was a better buy than T-Bills then I would advocate that Cisco exchange some of their T-bills for CSCO shares. If not, then not.

So perhaps we are at least consistent in our disagreement.

And at least we also agree on the stock option side of the equation. Although I believe that the degree of option compensation for line employees should be less than management which should be less than executives and so on. A kind of line-of-sight-to-impact scale.

If one has executives that don't deserve to attract options, I suggest that the company has too many executives! Either that or it's like a bank where the title doesn't mean much.

John.
