Nosmo,

I know from your posts you have family exposed to terrorist threats.

I do as well btw. And if they suffer how could I personally justify my "hawk" position?

Well, I couldn't. I would feel as if I had done everything wrong.

But that is how the mind of the terrorist works. At the same time that is how terrorism is defeated.

Reading your posts, I would say there is little difference between our respective positions.

NK: Easy to say from the safety of your home!! How do you suppose people in a village get away from the armed terrorists in their midst - especially when a missile can strike out of the blue with no warning! And you make the comforting assumption that these poor people know what's going on - as if they have TVs watch CNN etc. I'm sure many of them don't know why they're being attacked.

* Yes, that is exactly the point. This is my home. I have no doubt that if I lived elsewhere my feelings would be quite different. I am making no claim to moral high ground here. I feel regret at what may be necessary. Nevertheless, my feelings wouldn't stop me from doing what I see to be necessary. The terrorists themselves have declared the rules. They have made it clear that non-combatants are targets, with their attacks on civilians.

NK: Th big lie in this war as in all recent wars is that these so called smart weapons always hit their targets. We were conned into believing in the Gulf War that the missile going down a chimney was the rule rather than the exception. Also the U.S. is using cluster bombs in this campaign. Approximately 10-15% of the bomblets don't go off and in effect become land mines adding to the already treacherous land mine situation there.

* Yes, it is often said that the first casualty of war is 'truth'. All of what you say may be true, but if you are out to win a war, those things can't stop you from taking action. Can a people who are attacked be expected not fight back with as much force as they can muster? Do you think that the terrorists would hesitate to use nuclear weapons against us if they had the means?
