Jim,

re: OTOH, what kind of gets me is that the Military gets vaccinated, the government gets antibiotics for workers in Embassies, Congress gets what they need, Doctors get what they want but the Civilian is left sucking hind teat again.
No Vaccine and have to beg for Antibiotics...

McPanic, settle down. You plan to take antibiotics for the rest of your life? Walking around wearing a gas mask? Taking vaccines for every known bio agent?

John

Jim,

I doubt that any contact with Anthrax means certain death. I think that a self diagnosis, and taking antibiotics without really strong confirmation that they are needed would cause more harm than good.

Antibiotics are bad for you. They cause damage to a human body. The only reason to take them is you are treating something worse than the antibiotics themselves.

Jim,re:...have to beg for Antibiotics...

Do you know of any case where someone who was exposed has been unable to get antibiotics. In fact, the only reason there's a "perceived" shortage is the run created by the media among people who don't need them.

If you have a good relationship with a family doctor I have no doubt you can get what antibiotics you need when you need them - so long as the public doesn't get stupid and make a run on the supply. The only thing that distresses me is that they are treating an awful lot of government workers - non military - when it is not warranted. On the vaccination front you may know that some military personnel have been courts martialed for refusing to take the vaccine. In any large scale innoculation program some people get the disease from the innoculation, so it is a two-edged sword.
