I agree, it is either a long term war of attrition from the highest ground, but long term will also cause a loss of internation support. The other choice, which you disagree with, is to start with the highest ground and grind down kiling everything that moves, saving only the vegetation for the final return of innocents to resettle the land after the evil ones have been eradicated. This could be done quicker, and therefore perhaps before losing international support. I agree, it would be nice to have the luxury of time and only run Sepcial Operation Direct Action only against the Taliban and Al Qauida high commanders, but time is of the essence here, we think we have this luxury but we do not. Mark my words well, I know this part of the world very well. In the end you will hear the deafening silence of Communist China that has long term plans to annex this whole region to pave an oil pipeline to the Iranian oil fields. Kashmir and the other mountain passes are part of the whole puzzle, all mountain passes lead from Hunaz Pakistan to China or India Jumma Kashmir to Communist China, all due to losing Tibet to China. Only the Khyber Pass is south west, it is between Kabul and Islamabad, actually between Jalabada and Peshawar. Communist China has been arming these people to gain more and more ground here. Just look at this map and it will all start to make sense. Russia and Britain have known this for centuries, they called it the Great Game, which we thought ended when these same people beat the Soviet Union after the 1979 invasion. We forgot the "GREAT GAME" and in forgetting this part of the world, we could lose the whole world. Yes, the WHOLE WORLD. Right now CHina gets its oil by ships we control. WTO/China Factory/Slave Labor/Slave"free"trade....inventory gluts, US and World Recession....higher oil prices....get the picture? lib.utexas.edu Mark my words well.
