Pirah: When W. Avril Harriman (perhaps some here have heard of him <G>) was asked late in life why he was considered "wise" - was it age, he said I am an old man and I have made just about every mistake possible in my life, and I hope I have learned from them. If I seem "wise" to some that is probably why. I paraphrase, but think this is consistent with what he said.

Indeed, there is a lot to be said with starting out with a large dose of humility. If this last year doesn't give one that, nothing will!
