Yes...

More than anything, I believe it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. The more aid is given, the more aid is needed, coz people refuse to deal with the issues of self sufficiency.......demanding aid as their right...creating situations where the world would be forced to provide aid.

The Arabs govts keep their citizens contented and happy with aid and financial give aways. Even after years of independence, they have'nt learnt to make their economy into anything other than the petro economy.

Except, to some extent, the emirate of Dubai in the UAE. Of all the arab states, its the only city which has really a very innovative and forward thinking royalty who developed trade, commerce, and infrastructure and now Dubai does not rely on petro dollars anymore.

All Arab nations, indeed all Moslem nations would do better if aid from the west and their own Islamic countries <zakat> could be stopped. WOuld take a few years, but would make a better end result. And while they're working to survive and rise in the world, their minds would be off all this religious violence...
