You are good people. I'm glad to know you & proud to call you my friend.

Funny thing just occurred to me. At least these folks smiled at you..........

On my honeymoon, the wife & I took the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. Long story short........ on the return trip, a nasty storm hit us out of the blue. All the folks on the completely open upper deck were stranded & in serious danger of being washed overboard by the waves or falling in the water as the ship listed so hard at times you could look directly into the water by sitting up straight & looking to your left (or right depending on which way you were facing). This storm was unbelievable. The rain stung when it hit exposed skin.

Anyway...... long story short........ everyone was panicing. I worked my way to the last row of seats nearest the doorway down into the covered portion of the ferry.......... some 20+ feet away........ I got some of the men to form a human chain from that seat to the doorway.........I anchored the human chain by putting my leg behind the back of the seat & in front of the backrest which was welded to the floor (each row of seats were all welded to the floor)........... I got folks calmed down enough to get the women & children passed through safely.......... then we passed the remaining men....... until no one was left to pass.......... since my leg was jammed in pretty tight, I let got of the human chain & they pulled them all in safely............ I got my leg free & waited for the ship to list hard & just as it started to swing back to the other side, I ran like hell to the doorway.

Needless to say I made it safely (DUH! how would I be able to write about it now :-o).

Not a single person said a word to me after we came to shore safely. The Captain of the ferry made some lame comment as we pulled in........ something like....... 'Well, we made it'........... to a series of groans from the passengers........... Oh & I noticed that several crew members were each doing their own head counts ws we disembarked the ferry en masse..............

I bet they sweated it out big time wondering if anyone was missing cuz there's no way they knew how many people got off that boat & I doubt they knew exactly how many got on either.
