That is the majority view. What about the silent and significant minority that is Kashmiri Hindus, aka Pundits? No body has even thought about eliciting their stand on this matter. Then we have other minorities. The minorities do not definitely want to break away from India. Kashmir will never be in the hands of Kashmiri people. It is a land-locked country. It is like an unprotected damsel. There is no morality play here. There will be someone who wants to mess around. The suitors are Indians, pakis, Chinese and who knows who else. Kashmiri independence or accession to pakistan is a recipe for disaster to Kashmiris and India, because of the chinese factor. The Kashmiris were originally all Hindus and the invading muslims converted significant number of them at the point of a sword guaranteeing special privileges to the converts. The Chinese have a foothold in Kashmir now. If Kashmir becomes independent or goes into the hands of the Pakis, the next thing you know is that the Chinese will overwhelm Kashmir by infiltration, invasion, immigration and destruction of both the Hindu and islamic places of worship. Look at what happened to Tibet. This Chinese foothold is something the politicians, political pundits, the pakis and even the Kashmiris do not take into consideration. The latent chinese threat in terms of occupation of Kashmir is not even in the thought processes of the US Govt. Once the Chinese are in, there is no way you can dislodge them, because they will move chinese people by millions and chinese nuclear misssile will grace the gardens, the valleys and the mountain peaks. The Dal Lake in Srinagar will be the reflecting lake for the chinese missiles for the enjoyment of tourists and TV audience and this will cause utter consternation in the minds of Indians. A few decades ago, the chinese were very close to Delhi with their army. The chinese were too close for comfort. What is the Paki's attitude in these matters? Nothing that causes exhilaration. Pakis DO NOT control their destiny. There will always be some one or some country to puppeteer them. Holy Scat!
