No doubt, the exotic germ and the intention to poison/terrorize is the effective part here. But if you're in NYC, it IS working. Just to bring a smile to your face...sort of...mushroom terrorists

Scientists are blaming mutated wild mushrooms for the poisoning of more than 60
people in Romania.

Two people have died in the outbreak in Iasi County.

The mushrooms are the same species that locals have been eating for years.

Dr Tudor Ciuhodaru, from the emergency hospital in Iasi, says he fears poisoning
incidents may get worse and he is warning people to take care.

He told the Evenimentul Zilei newspaper: "The rainy season just started and the
mushrooms will appear in big quantities after each rain.

"Besides some people have canned mushrooms to eat during the winter so we will
face other numerous cases in winter as well."

Doctors say it is the third intoxication wave blamed on mushrooms, following
ones in the spring and summer when 125 people were poisoned and three died.

Ken,

If the media were ordered to not report anything on this; and it was discovered much later in time by the public that there was a bio-attack, even if 'limited' casualties occurred, the public would look for blood from their politicians.

Welcome to free and open society, damned if you do, damned if you don't.

But the right thing to do is be open despite the consequences. Things will balance out soon enough, although it make be that my prediction of economy hampering interruption to commerce comes true - even if the bulk of the incidents are hoaxes.

Will be interesting to see October's productivity, employment and industrial production numbers.
