Who is judging this person, Tim?

Maybe he is judging himself, maybe God is, maybe no one is. I don't think a judgment has to be pronounced to make an act good or evil. If I wiped out every sentient being in the universe, including myself, in an instant and there was no one left to judge me the act still would have been evil. Or maybe we are judging this person. After all it isn't an actual person that no one knows about, it is a thought experiment of yours, and we are both making conclusions or judgments about this person.

It's a non sequitur to say that this isolated person can be acting right or wrong, because that statement references an observer external to the actor evaluating the behavior or act as "right" or "wrong" or "immoral" or "moral".

No, it does not.

You where the one who wanted to deal with definitions rather then opinions. Ethics as a subject by definition includes the belief that there is an absolute morality that does not rely on opinion or evaluation. It also includes moral relativism. Its a broad topic. If you assume that acts can not be moral or immoral independent of people's opinion or judgement about them, then I see your point but you haven't argued for that assumption you just assumed it, and assumed it as part of the definition of ethics.
