Draw a trendline on that bigcharts weekly chart from the March 2000 high through the other succeeding highs to the present. You'll see that it's now just a few points shy of breaking that line. When that happens, then it has arguably "broken the bear's grasp." For how long, however, is another question.

As to your larger question about who the leaders will be, I have no opinion. Chips are being downgraded, optics have stalled after their rise, data storage also stalled, software and hardware are going nowhere. There might not be a clear leader. Some might consider those high flying small cap security stocks that have gone parabolic as leaders, but I wouldn't, and that's a pretty small sector. What are your ideas for the leaders?
