With ME's restore you can restore your computer to the
way it was a few days ago. I forget the exact exact
time frame but it takes an image every 5-10 boots.

Run an online virus scan here...http://housecall.antivirus.com/

Unfortunetly System Restore has the flaw of reinfecting your machine if you do have a virus. You may need to purge the restore files if you find you have been infected.

It's possible you are just stuck in a reboot/scandisk loop. Try booting into safe mode (hold down Ctrl key when you hear beeps) and run scandisk from there.

The last time I saw that problem was a damaged hive file on Windows 2000, since it wasn't a parallel installation, it required a reformat and reinstall(all data lost on that system). I think it means your MBR or registry are corrupted. If there is a chance they could save your data at Best Buy, I would go for it, but I'm guessing that is improbable.

Let us know how it works out.
