And you need to get a brain.
I need to live in Afghanistan because I don't agree with you?
Maybe you need to live in Afghanistan if you love totalitarian states that don't allow freedom of thought and freedom of speech. If you cannot tolerate dissent you do not deserve to live in a free society. If it were up to you, no doubt this country would be more like Afghanistan. Unfortunately people do not get what they deserve. And even though you are a mindless intolerant dictatorial bigot you get to live in a free country.

I wouldn't say she's a traitor. That requires something more than blaming your country for causing all the ills of the world while giving it no credit for all the good it does. That's simply modern liberalism. Misguided, yes, very, but not treason.

But ever since WWII, and especially since the end of the Cold War, it's been a game with neoliberals to see how many ways they can find to excoriate the US and how many ways they can find to excuse its enemies and justify condemnation of it. That doesn't surprise me -- it's right in there with blaming dead white men for all the evils of the world.

What does surprise me is the ability of people who are far from stupid to maintain a total disconnect between the right to freedom of speech and the price that has been paid to create and maintain that right. The idea that freedom should be free, when throughout history we have learned over and over that it is anything but.

That goes along with the ability to condemn dead white males for all the evils of the world while refusing to recognize that they had anything to do with creating the political systems which allow people to excoriate them and the economic and scientific advances which give us the lifestyle which provides the opportunity, time, and resources to exercise that right.

It's like people driving their Beemers and Cadillacs to rallies to protest the evils of the capitalist system, or their SUVs to rallies to protest the destruction of the environment.

Somehow we have raised a generation many well educated members of which totally missed the lessons on cause and effect.

But being vapid and ignorant still doesn't constitute treason.

You and your ilk are the real threat to our democracy and those ideals the American people hold dear to their hearts.

Hey, 'Carolyn!' Hello there, ole gal ...

Wow ... these remarks of yours look a bit like one of those 'personal attacks' that SI admin 'reviles' per the TOUs and so quickly acts upon.

Ya sure you want to curtail your own rights to free speech with such ad homimium (spelling sorry - help all attorneys -g-) attacks?

I see that you have many, many 'outlets' on SI to vent your rage ... something to the tune of, what, 200 posts per day, on average?

Rather, to exercise your right to free speech.

<snicker>

Why this board? Why now, with 'all the suffering' and all of the families of the WTC victims in NYC?

I know I've come to this late but I still want to add my voice to what I hope has been a chorus of protest to Carolyn's remarks last night.

Dissent is essential.

Voting is patriotic. but whenever we vote what we're doing is agreeing or disagreeing with the policies of some official, agreeing or disagreeing with the content of some referendum. So if we reject some behavior or proposal with our vote, are we are therefore traitors?

The problem is that the President must sometimes act in a way that cannot be subject to a referendum. We voted to give him that power. But just because he has that power does not mean that we cannot or even should not disagree with the ways he chooses to exercise that power.

That's why we revolted against monarchy. That's why we eventually decided that it was a bad idea to believe in a line of leaders empowered by God to tell us what to do. That's what's worth risking our lives for and what so many people are now doing -- defending our freedoms.

<<You are a traitor. 5000 innocents lost their lives September 11, 2001, and you have the nerve to blame us???? >>

X is nuts. Add the people on the planes and it's probabaly closer to 6,000. But if just one innocent life was lost from an attack, the full force and power of the United States of America should come into command. We The People To Form A more Perfect Union.. We, We are a union and We don't let one of ours get killed. Not one. As a nation we should rain down hell fire on those who try and do kill us.

Now those who have whatever grievence should go before our courts which bend over backwards or to the world court in Hauge.

I am amazed at the response from one little post.

Oh come on, Carolyn. You're not that stupid.

You shat on X with no good reason, then ran away for a day. What a fine American you are.

Do you have enough grit to respond to the posts you've gotten here? Are you accountable?
