I think I'll take that hanky now. Thank you. My, what a lot of frothing this evening. Did I miss something that set off the firestorm?

I "think" I'm somewhere between you and Tim. It saddens me that more death will come from death. It is always sad to take life, even that of a rabid dog, though it can be necessary at times for the safety of the whole. How can a person of faith think otherwise? How can a person of good heart (I'll put in you that one, not the former) think otherwise? I am proud that we seem to have done what we have so far with so few civilians killed, and am really trusting that we will be there after this over. Our armed forces are not the BinLadins, or the Talibans of the world, nor is our country. And if at times we have not lived up that, I think we are now and will continue to do so.

And the more frothing I hear from some folks, the more I think they don't so much respect our armed forces, as want to send someone in their place to get as blood as it takes to satiate them. Our forces are not there to satisfy the bloodlust of those sitting at home, but there to protect our freedom (including that of dissent) and our lifes.

And... the more frothing I hear, the more glad I am of doves to balance the far side of "kill 'em all and sort 'em out later".

The hit men might be a good idea, but even if we kill bin Laden and 3 or 4 other top figures in Al-Qaida it will not effect the group to much. If we can insure that they have no country that shelters them it will not stop them either but it will have an impact and reduce their ability when all of their planning, training, and operations have to be done by very small hidden groups rather then thousands being trained at large camps. I agree with the idea strategic planning and security at home is important.
