I suppose the French Gvt subsidies to their national telecom companies will really disadvantage telecom companies in other Euro countries. Will this cause a hell of a fight in the European Union or is it a scheme where other countries follow suit in violation of WTO agreement?

DR Jacobs would say that anything *that moves the world at a faster pace to 3G CDMA of any flavor will help QCOM collect more royalties.

``It's good news for the equipment makers who depend on operators' expenditure,'' said Mark Davis, a telecommunications analyst at WestLB Panmure. ``It's the first bit of good news about 3G in a long time.''

Good news for 3G is good news for QCOM, regardless the 3G flavor.
