Best Buy markets GTC Telecom's long-distance plan

Published Oct 17 2001

Best Buy Co. Inc., the largest U.S. electronics retailer, said it
began marketing GTC Telecom Corporation's
5-cent-a-minute long-distance rate plan last week in stores
nationwide. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Shoppers at Best Buy's more than 400 retail stores can check to
see if the plan, which allows subscribers to make state-to-state
calls for 5 cents a minute throughout the day, is offered in their
area. Best Buy also advertises GTC's rate plan on its Web site,
spokeswoman Donna Beadle said.

Shares of Eden Prairie-based Best Buy fell 27 cents to $52.93.
They have risen 79 percent this year. Shares of Costa Mesa,
Calif.-based GTCC rose 1 cent to 30 cents.
