hmmm..I think even more folks than 65% approved of his leaving, but yes thanks for pointing out how glad we were he left.

No, Clinton did not have high approval when he left. That is a myth.

The polls you cite were before the last Clinton scandals broke into public. When Clinton left office he was fully unpopular - he was always personally unpopular - due to his selling of pardons and other bad behavior/scandals that exploded in January 2001.

The polls taken closest to Clinton's disgraceful exit showed Clinton to be among the most unpopular. Clinton is still unpopular, despite the fact that even failed ex-prez's tend to climb in popularity as memories fade. Even Carter is no longer shunned.

The problem for Dems is that Clinton keeps reminding the American people why they never liked him while Carter at least tried to do penance.
