Re: With Israel, the US has a military base, it can use, right in the middle of the untrustworthy Arab dictatorships. If this war spreads, and the Arab nations take sides against the civilized world, the sanddiggers will be on the run, quickly, as they have always done before.

Is that so? But then, tell me, Bob, where does your "foul-weather" Israeli ally fit into the current anti-terrorist equation? Awesome military power... front-line bases to launch strikes against ugly Arabs... Geopolitical deterrence against "untrustworthy Arab dictatorships", eh? But so far, I just can't see how are all these valuable assets tapped by the US in its ongoing Afghan campaign... How come?

Contrariwise, I do see how "barbaric, unreliable" Muslim countries have readily jumped aboard the US mission: Turkey, Iran (ready to rescue MIA US pilots), Uzbekistan, and, last but not least, Pakistan. Face it, Bob: Israel's actually part of the problem, not the solution.
