Hello back!

Message 16514416

I found this post to be one of the most offensive I've seen on this thread for some time.

Talk about a disconnect between free speech and America. I've am a Navy vet. I volunteered. With that said, I think the Navy did a lot of things wrong. Today, I disagreed from the start about launching a conventional war against a 3rd World country of 32 Million people living at the edge of starvation.

Considering bin Laden's toleration by Afghanistan to be anything like my city council's toleration the local Elk's lodge is inane. This is a country which we helped destabilize as a part of our concerted Cold War efforts. That is not some 'demolib' propaganda, it is historical fact and was done by none other than that icon of conservatism, Ronald Reagan.

People questioning the size and scope of this can of worms we're opening and suggesting that "we" as a country had some part in this fiasco is not treasonable, IMO. Carolyn has her opinion, but I will tell her that it is obnoxious and anyone who doesn't condemn such obnoxious statements soundly it is in part condoning it.

I don't have to like her opinion. But I'll add, that I won't be telling her she's a traitor, or that she should leave the country simply because I don't like what she says.
