Her point was that the Germans were at least as responsible for the actions of the Nazis than the Afghanis are responsible for those of the Taliban. There was absolutely no hint of comparing our treatment of Afghanistan with the Axis's treatment of the Jews, Britian, Poland or anyone else.

I think her point is a fair one. Even if one disagrees, it is hardly incendiary.

I imagine that Carolyn reacted predictably to the set-up that Laz posted to the RWET.

You may have noticed that I have not expressed my concern to Carolyn and confined my comments to the way the thread dealt with her post.

We were talking about the Taliban representing the people of Afghanistan versus other governments (ELECTED governments) representing other populations. It had nothing to do with blame, it had merely to do with the connection of the people of the various places to their representatives and their responsibility for those representatives being in place. It's too bad you didn't follow that part. You got it completely wrong.
