At the same time, inventories have been growing, as leading DRAM makers are still at full production. In 2001, not much can be expected from the year-end sales. Furthermore, the excess supply will likely persist at least during the first half of 2002, for demand conditions will likely deteriorate further in the new year. According to a worldwide survey of DRAM prices by ICIS-LOR, an information service company based in London, Houston, and Singapore, the rolling average prices of 128MB DRAMs (PC 133, 16M x 8) for the 30-day period ending Sept. 28 (Aug. 30-Sept. 28, 2001) for large-volume users were US$1.53 in North America, US$1.65 in Europe, and US$1.58 in Asia. Compared with the previous week (the 30-day rolling averages ending Sept. 21, 2001), the prices fell 7.58 percent in North America, 5.33 percent in Europe, and 7.55 percent in Asia. As to prices of memory modules, the spot prices of 128 DIMMs (PC 133) declined from the previous week by 1.19 percent to US$12.07 in North America, by 1.95 percent to US$12.44 in Europe, and by 3.27 percent to US$11.75 in Asia.
