That expanded on your idea that the war was useless but it didn't really detail why.

Also I don't think the trying to hit cockroaches with flame-thowers idea is an accurate analogy. The damage done to Afghanistan will be a lot less then a flame-thrower would do to a house, and the attacks will weaken Al-Qaida and perhaps depose the Taliban, not just push them in to some new whole. If you kill half of a group of cockroaches the other half can grow back quickly, you didn't do anything much to hamper them. Even if we overthrow the Taliban and make sure Al-Qaida has no safe haven we wont destroy Al-Qaida but we will make it less dangerous and more vulnerable.
