We should have waited until bin Laden assumed we were paralyzed by indecision. In the back channels, we get a group of surrounding Islamic nations to declare bin Laden an infidel and blasphemer (he's claimed he's a mullah but he only has the training that a practitioner has). Then we have THEM ice him. We don't get cast as Satan and we don't declare a war against Islam. THAT would have required patience. Sending in bombers was the easy answer to satisfy the folks at home, IMO.
