Roger Smullen was the COB until a year ago or so. He has been seriously involved with the turn-around of AMCC from close to belly-up to becoming what it is today. As for other companies around, start-ups are eating the lunch of several established players at the tier 1 OEMs for the new designs aimed at the next generation riding the next wave beyond this recession. As usual this is hardly understood and certainly not recognized by the establishment incl. the previous lead suppliers. Just part of shooting-the-messenger policy, which maintains any current level of wishful thinking until the day the maintainers and their bosses all get fired by the board stepping in. One of those new vendors to watch closely: www.velio.com.with an IPO expected some time mid 2002. Their last 45 Mil round was many times over signed. They really have the product announced...
