My understanding of Judaism is that the Jews have no Pope; and there are, after the bible, a bunch of opinions about how to fulfill bible commandments that some people follow and some people don't. So the core is the Bible (original Old Testament flavor). I guess the various interpretations of Christianity, such as Lutheranism, Methodism, etc. wouldn't support anyone saying that Christianity isn't a religion, because the NT is at the core for all (except maybe Mormons). Nor could we say that Islam isn't a religion because of its various (often antagonistic) branches such as Shi'ism, Sunnism, Wahhabism, Talibanism, etc. The Qu'ran is the core.

Is the Bible good enough to found a country on? If you believe in the bible, sure...
