If you mean at any of the major U.S. bioweapons labs, ie, USAMRIID, I'd assume they do extensive checks as well as training...you can't have just a basic Joe Janitor wandering around level 3 containment areas and whatnot. However, who knows what if any precautions the Russkies took, word is they weren't all that careful unfortunately (and even the screened, trained security personnel in the Russian labs were reportedly so poorly paid that they were prime candidates for bribery).
