Oh right, they called themselves the Mujahadin then.

The Taliban existed by the name Taliban before it became a significant force in Afghanistan. Many of the Mujahadin joined the Taliban as it started to grow so our weapons indirectly went to the Taliban but they where not directly sent to the Taliban which at the time was not a major factor in the country.

Also the weapons we sent so far have been either rarely used against us or not used at all. You don't need a stinger to fly a plane in to a building. Of course they have caused our aircraft over Afghanistan to fly higher (out of the range of stingers), and while the stingers have not been able to touch our planes they may cause problems if and when we use helicopters in great numbers.
