We have all kinds of snakes around here, and if the landscaping is ignored for several weeks, the grass and bushes become tall and thick... ideal for rats and snakes to find a home.....

We also have firearms and thousands of rounds of ammo, and she knows how to use it.....

You can save some batteries by getting one of the crank-type radios. 30 second on the crank gets 30 minutes of radio with at least 5 bands including shortwave. I can't remember the name at the moment, but it's advertised almost every night on Art Bell's radio show. They have an 800 # to get a free catalog. The fancy radio is something like $150 or so. All the talk on his show now is about the current situation since 9/11, no UFO's. :-(

Here's the radio I was thinking of:

Freeplay Plus ccrane.com

I was wrong about the price - it's $99.95. It has AM + 10 SW bands and also has 4 power modes: ac/dc, rechargeable battery, solar and wind-up. They have a lot of other stuff, too.
