Aren't the Russians now using it temporarily without words, while they wait for some script a little more suitable? LOL, not that I ever knew the words.
The German and Welsh anthems are also good and rousing, although the former is somewhat overblown even to my (Beethoven-loving) ears.

I like the mental voice I hear when I listen to the US anthem - if sung by an individual it sounds strained, but it's great when I hear it from a large group. I still don't think you should swap.

I should watch my words, though - I was maligning the (dire) NZ anthem before a rugby match recently, only to find that the chap next to me was a Kiwi... fortunately, he agreed <g>
