For the most part the statutes relevant are in the Securities Act of 1933, Section 17(a), 17(b), and then a heavier one in Section 10 on securities fraud, which seems to be rarely if ever quoted in net discussion cases ... here are the first two, from memory, boiled down into my understanding of their meaning in the vernacular - 17(a) - says a b/d mustn't bullshit nobody into trading a stock 17(b) - says if you are compensated for touting you must disclose it There may be more to it than this, details, you know ... don't know where to look it up ... there is a thread on the topic, its founder and several of its posters well-informed - #Subject-28509 No worries mate, on anything you've posted to date, as long as it's truthful ... on both sides of the 49th a person has a right to free speech, even a broker or a compensated tout, they're just held to higher standards of disclosure etc, that's all .... a 'former broker', well i dunno but when you leave the air force do they let you take your F-18? ... we're all former four-year-olds but do people still buy us ice cream once a week? ... not in my experience they don't Speaking of four-year-olds - isn't jealousy something, eh ... lol, you could smell it in the air when that poster showed up, especially those of us who know the act .... contribute nothing of value, dominate all discussion, become the centre of attention - many of us have seen this before, and let me tell you it gets old after a while ... it is not however a cause for concern, now that there is a thread for discussion of [oh, joy] stocks - #Subject-51846 ... the old posts here, from post ~500 to ~2500, are still available, they're not going anywhere In re Frank's suggestion of TOUing her - i've never done that for any but spammers [though ole 49r has accused me of TOUing her, but i haven't] ... everybody's got their own way of working this out, me i like as free a speech as can be found ... it took a lot to accept the idea of moderated threads, i'm still a little queasy on that since the concept could easily be abused ... and is, in a number of cases .... but what can you do with a thread terrorist ... oh, and if you think you've got it hard, just watch her lighting into a female one time - hoo-hah, it's tooth and claw driven by pure envy ... lol ... a source of amusement, not of concern, imho ... cheers
