You said: "Religion is man made and formed basically to control people".

You also asked:

"why Islam is violent and Judaism is not?"

Your first statement answers your question. Each different group of people takes some local Teaching and "packages" it
to its own ends.

Namaste!

Steve,

Your characterization of Religion and Belief is profound and I for one could not have said it any better.

As for Jewdism I do agree with you. And perhaps what most often is misunderstood is the nature of violence that Jewish people are engaged which as you said is often defensive rather than offensive. The other day I was talking to a friend (who happens to be a Muslim - although not a practicing Muslim), and he was telling me that Jews control everything, and they are in everything (from entertainment industry, to financial, to government, etc.), and that a minority of Jews here in the U.S control the government, and US's policies, etc.

So I told him it was not as if Jews had taken over the world through force. What most often is misunderstood is that Jews work hard - very hard - and are very focused in using their intelligence to advance in life. And regretfully what ends up happening is that the vast majority find that innocent competitiveness not acceptable and mock it as aggressive behavior.

I used to work for a small startup company many years ago whose founder and most of its employees were Jewish. In fact I believe I was perhaps among the 3 or 4 who were not Jewish. They all were very inteligent, highly educated and very hard working. I am thankful to them for which they taught me what working hard means and how it can contribute to one's overall well being - not only financially but from a standpoint of feeling good about contributing something to life and to the life of others. Similarly when I was in Iran (I was born in Iran and lived there till I was 16 before the Islamic revolution took over), I knew quite a few Jewish people from classmates in high school, to our neighbor. With no exception my Jewish classmates were all smart and worked very hard to get A's all the time, and our Jewish neighbor was also a very hard working man and had started with nothing and came to be financially very successful. My family and his were very good friends. Sadly when the Islamic psyhopaths took over the country and started discriminating against non-Muslims, he was forced to leave the country and lost most of what he had worked so hard to achieve. He died a few years alter, but I believe his family are somewhere in the U.S. Anyway...

As for Christianity, I am not too familar with it except that most (if not all) my friends here in the U.S are Christians (not practicing Christians though). And from what I see, and hear it is rather a peaceful loving ideology that does meet most of 21st century civilized requirements of mutual respect for one another, and belief in absolute good. Although, you still have your Jerry Falwells, Oral Roberts, and Pat Robertsons of the world who from time to time give the ideology a bad name! :)

Regards,
