Not from my perspective. Celeron and Duron should meet C4 (C5X) speeds pretty easily, and be cost competitive besides. In terms of performance, the C5XL will have far less IPC than the current C3, while clocking at 1.3GHz to 1.5GHz. The higher IPC C5X will clock lower at 1.1GHz to 1.3GHz. Glen Henry admitted that they wanted to follow in Intel's footsteps, and sacrifice IPC to gain megahertz, except they mean to do it in a big way. C5X is only supposed to offer 10-20% higher per clock performance over the C3 (C5B), and the C5XL loses 10-20% performance because of removing execution units. These processors will be dogs, and still lack the megahertz to outsell Celeron or Duron.
