OT re: Why, I don't know

Let's say it's the year 2100. China is the sole Superpower, and dominates the world (militarily, politically, economically, culturally). Let's say the U.S. is one of 50 countries that are Chinese client states. A terrorist group of fundamentalist Christians, based in Canada, attacks a Chinese City. The Chinese start moving in large numbers of troops and weapons into the U.S. Their military is bigger than ours, by a factor of 100 to 1. The Chinese announce (without even bothering to ask our permission) that U.S. military bases will be taken over by the Chinese, and used to launch attacks on Canada.

Let's say, in addition, that you feel that your culture is under siege, and has been for your entire life. Your religion, your language, your family relationships, all your core cultural values, you have watched for decades as they are slowly eroded and replaced, in your own homeland, by profoundly foreign values.

How would you feel about that?

There is a reason why we are still in Saudi Arabia and why bin Laden rails on and on about the fact that we are infidels in the holy land. It is because in the view of the Saud family and in the view of bin Laden we make the reign of the Sauds more secure. I expect we will be beating very hard on the Sauds to begin transition to a British-type monarchy with more open and tolerant education for the masses. Militants in Saudi Arabia will be weeded out. They may be called terrorists by the Saudis with our acquiesence before this is over.
