JC, here are some links to benchmarks on Lost Circuits. Maybe they can help.

JC, well, the standard argument is old code/benchmarks performance vs. new code/benchmarks (like how fast a processor do you need for Word and Excel). Also, may open a can of worms here, have you or anyone else seen anywhere any complaints about P4's performance, in any configuration, by any customers that have bought one? I haven't.

Tony

JC,
RE:"Jim may be exaggerating, or he may be accurate. It is difficult to tell. The P4-1.50/i845 is probably faster than the Celeron-1.10, but the Celeron-1.20 (which is Tualatin-based) could very well be faster than a P4-1.60/i845. We really need a wide range of benchmarks comparatively testing these parts, and such a thing has apparently not yet materialized."

I really appreciate your efforts. I was assuming the 1.1 Celeron was Tualatin based. This would be a nice review if someone would put it together. 1.5 P4 w/SDRAM vs 1.1 Celeron or 1.2 Celeron vs 1.6 P4 w/SDRAM or 1.5..
Just your one bench there with a Celeron 1.2 close to a P4 1.7 opens up a big can of worms...especially when you throw in the price of the computer.

Jim

JC, there are VERY FEW i845 reviews on the web, WHY IS THAT? Shouldn't Anand and Tom have had a big i845 motherboard comparison out by now? In fact there are more review of VIA and SiS DDR P4 boards than any 845's. Has Intel forbidden any comparisons?
